The Idler
The Idler was founded in 1993 by Tom Hodgkinson and Gavin Pretor-Pinney in order to attack the work ethic and publish good writing, photography and illustration. It began life as an almost bi-monthly A4 magazine, and has now settled down into a bi-annual, 224 page periodical. Boasting such contributors as Damien Hirst, Louis Theroux, Bill Drummond, Alex James, Joan Bakewell and even the elusive Pete Doherty, it has made a name for itself as a home for radical thought and joyful reflection. Now published by Ebury, the Idler is moving slowly but surely into the mainstream.
